(STATEHOUSE, IN) - The state has honored two construction workers who saved the life of a trucker in last month’s fiery propane-tanker crash on I-465.
Robert Skaggs of Fortville was driving on 465 when he noticed the giant fireball behind him, and stopped and sprinted back to get the tanker driver out of the wreckage.
He says he was so focused that he didn't notice the truck had caught fire, or that Lonnie Hood, of Acton, had come running from a nearby apartment complex to help.
Governor Daniels presented Skaggs and Hood with the Governor's Heroism Award he created two years ago.
