(UNDATED) - State officials are prodding Hoosiers to include sound budgeting in their New Year’s resolutions.
The state has been working with banks for a few months on a program to encourage all Hoosiers to set up checking and savings accounts, instead of throwing money away on check-cashing services.
For New Year's, Treasurer Richard Mourdock and Secretary of State Todd Rokita are expanding the message to cover ways to make dollars go farther, from minimizing your use of credit cards to turning off lights when you leave a room.
