(INDIANA STATEHOUSE, IN) - The Indiana house has given near-unanimous approval to an ethics reform bill, while a senate committee has begun work on its own version.
The house voted 97-2 to approve legislation drafted by speaker Patrick Bauer (D-South Bend) to require disclosure of all gifts from lobbyists worth more than $50.
The current threshold of $100 has not changed since 1974.
The bill also prohibits the increasingly common practice of legislators resigning in the middle of their term and immediately becoming lobbyists.
