(UNDATED) - Indiana Senator Evan Bayh says the U.S. is “doing what we always do” in rushing government and private aid to Haiti.
Bayh calls the aftermath of last week's devastating earthquake "a terrible human catastrophe."
He salutes Hoosiers for instinctively moving to donate to the relief effort.
The quake's toll has been felt in communities across Indiana.
Bayh says his office has fielded calls from Hoosiers who were already in the process of adopting Haitian orphans, and are now trying to get them safely out of the country.
