(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - A bill to require Hoosier pupils to learn to read before advancing to fourth grade has survived.
It has been approved by the senate appropriations committee and sent to the full senate for a vote.
State School Superintendent Tony Bennett says the department of education and Senator Kenley reached agreement on an amended version.
