(EVANSVILLE, IN) - About 2,000 labor union members and activists are converging on Evansville this afternoon to protest the loss of 1,100 jobs at the Whirlpool Corporation Plant.
The company plans to start closing its refrigerator plant on March 26th, moving manufacturing to Mexico.
According to an Internal Whirlpool Newsletter, the decision to close the Evansville plant will not be reconsidered.
It also warned workers to avoid Friday's protest, stating "these negative activities will only hamĀper employees when they look for future jobs."
