(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - An Indiana lawmaker who chairs the House Education Committee says a bill to hold back third grade students who can’t read at grade level still has a chance to pass into state law.
Although a stripped-down version of one of Governor Mitch Daniels' top initiatives failed to get a hearing in the house, it could still be taken up in conference committee, a panel of house and senate negotiators created to resolve differences in a bill.
