(UNDATED) - ISTEP testing begins in schools across the state Monday.
The tests, required by the federal no child left behind act, are designed to measure students' educational progress.
This year, the tests are being administered in the spring instead of the fall.
The change was made to measure learning that occurs during the current school year.
The spring ISTEP includes questions on english and math for grades 3 through 8, science for grades 4 and 6, and social studies for grades 5 and 7.
