(NOBLESVILLE, IN) - Three school districts are suing the state over what officials claim is an “inequitable funding equation.”
Hamilton Southeastern and Franklin Township Schools in central Indiana and Middlebury Schools in northern Indiana are claiming the school funding formula is unconstitutional.
The suit also alleges that growing districts are being penalized, while districts that are shrinking are being helped.
The suit comes as districts across the state are being forced to trim their budgets due to a sharp drop in property tax collections.
