(UNDATED) - Indiana is growing its state prison population faster than any other state and the Criminal Code Evaluation Commission wants to know why.
The commission, which was organized last year, is expected to meet this spring to begin its review in Earnest.
The PEW Research Center says Indiana's prison population increased by 5.3% last year.
That was the biggest increase in the nation; and it came at a time when the inmate population nationwide decreased by 0.4%.
There were declines in every state bordering Indiana.
