(MUNCIE, IN) - Sallie Mae may be planning to lay off up nearly 1/3 of its employees nationwide as the federal government assumes control of student loan origins.
But executives are already focusing on how the company will rebound and grow its work force again.
The restructuring will involve closing some locations, and company leaders are working to determine which sites will remain open.
Sallie Mae has 1,700 employees in Fishers and 725 in Muncie.
