(UNDATED) - This week, the state of Indiana will participate in Highway Work Zone Safety Awareness.
It's a national event that occurs each year near the start of the road construction season.
Nearly 600 people were injured and 10 people killed in Indana's work zones during 2009.
The week emphasizes the importance of safe, alert driving practices.
The awareness week runs through Friday.
