(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis has settled a priest abuse lawsuit.
The church agreed to a 199-thousand dollar cash settlement, which is the first such agreement by the Indianapolis Archdiocese.
The lawsuit stemmed from a 48 year old Indianapolis man's suit involving alleged abuse by former Priest Harry Monroe.
The man claimed Monroe sexually abused him at St. Catherine Catholic Church on the south side of Indianapolis.
Monroe faces 12 pending lawsuits filed by other alleged victims.
He also served at parishes in Terre Haute and Perry County.
The settlement also requires a public apology and a change in guidelines, including a ban on priests taking overnight trips with kids or having children alone in their vehicles.
