(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - Governor Mitch Daniels has named Sachin Shinde from Terre Haute South Vigo High School as “Indiana Mr. Math” for the second consecutive year.
Shinde earned perfect scores on the SAT and ACT math sections and received the highest score possible on the advanced placement calculus and statistics exams.
He plans to study computer science, electrical engineering and physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall.
Shinde is the first student to be honored twice by Daniels since he created the annual Hoosier High School Math and Science Awards in 2008 to recognize Indiana's top high school talent in math and science.
Daniels will name the winner of the science award Thursday.
