(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Airport is welcoming thousands of racing fans here for the Memorial Day weekend.
Airport Spokeswoman Susan Sullivan says it marks the start of summer travel season with heavy arrivals Friday and Saturday morning before the Indianapolis 500.
Officials estimate there will be 3,000 fewer inbound travelers than one year ago during the holiday weekend.
Departures will be heaviest on Monday after the race.
