Last updated on Wednesday, May 19, 2010

(MAUKPORT, IN) - A mother and daughter have pleaded guilty to failing to collect and remit sales taxes for the animals they sold at the Breezy Valley Dairy Farm in Harrison County.

64-year-old Virginia Garwood and 27-year-old Kristen Garwood were sentenced to probation.

More than 240 dogs and puppies were seized from the family's farm after consumer complaints led to a state investigation.

Many of the animals were confined to squalid cages and enclosures.
