(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - The republican candidate for the U.S. Senate wants to continue offshore drilling, even in the wake of the spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Dan Coats says there needs to be a process in place to avoid, what he calls, "blow outs" from happening again.
But, he believes the benefit of drilling is too great to stop it completely.
Coats says government has oversight responsibility for the spill, but believes the private sector needs to create new technologies to avoid future spills and safer exploration.
