(LAFAYETTE, IN) - Ivy Tech is calling on students to serve as the eyes and ears of campus.
The community college is hiring ten criminal justice majors as security staff for its Lafayette campus.
George Bittles is the Director of Information Technology and Security at Ivy Tech.
He was also instrumental in developing a similar student-run program at Purdue.
Bittles says hiring students part-time keeps costs down and gives them a hands-on educational experience.
Bittles says more than 20 students have applied for the security positions.
