(AVON, IN) - Emergency officials in Hendricks County are watching the dam between Indian Head Lake and White Lick Creek carefully as part of it eroded early Tuesday morning because of another round of heavy rains.
Folks downstream needed to be evacuated for several hours as water came gushing through points in the dam.
The DNR evaluated the dam at midday Tuesday and feels the water has receded enough to relieve the pressure on it.
Nearby residents who had been evacuated are being allowed to return to their homes, but must be prepared to evacuate again if more rain threatens the dam.
