Indiana School Districts Spending 58% Of Budget In The Classroom

Last updated on Monday, July 12, 2010

(UNDATED) - Indiana School Districts are spending about 58% of their expenditures on student instruction.

The state's Management and Budget Director, Ryan Kitchell, says the statewide average for the 2008-2009 school year trails the national average by 5%.

He claims if Indiana schools could match the national figure and spend 63% on student instruction, which would lead to a $500 million budget increase for classroom learning.
