(BROWNSBURG) - He says it was a joke, but a Brownsburg High School graduate’s Facebook posts have him facing a felony charge.
Police say they got a tip about two posts on 18-year-old Brendon Vernon's page Sunday night, indicating he was going to blow up the school and inviting others to join him.
Responses on Vernon's wall warned him someone might take him seriously, he responded he "was" serious.
Police say when officers showed up at Vernon's house, he told them it was a joke, inspired by a friend who told him she didn't want to start school the next day.
The bomb squad checked the building anyway and found nothing.
Vernon is charged with false reporting, a charge carrying up to three years in prison.
