(GARY, IN) - The human remains found in the Sand Dunes in Gary on Monday are believed to be that of a woman.
The bones are being transferred today to the University of Indianapolis for analysis by forensic anthropologist Dr. Stephen Nawrocki.
Investigators say a man searching for snakes and lizards found the remains in a shallow grave in the wooded sand dunes along U.S. 20 near the Borman Expressway Monday.
The victim was wearing a white nursing scrub top, blue jeans and a light blue and white striped jacket.
Her race, age and identity are unknown.
