(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - Indiana lawmakers face an unprecedented challenge next year when crafting a new state budget.
Last year, legislators were forced to make major budget cuts in order to prevent tax hikes.
The leader of the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute, John Ketzenberger, expects the next spending plan to be even more difficult to draft in the spring.
Ketzenberger says low state revenue collections and the lack of federal stimulus funding are leading to a $1.3 billion dollar gap.
