(STATEHOUSE) - A bill targeting illegal immigration in Indiana heads to the full senate for debate after clearing the chamber’s appropriations committee Thursday by a 8-5 vote.
Lawmakers have amended the bill to include language that would require police to ask for proof of citizenship only if they have "probable cause" to do so.
The previous version prompted law enforcement to check if they had "reasonable suspicion.
