(STATEHOUSE) - The senate has rejected an attempt to force schools to extend summer vacation through labor day but it’s not necessarily dead.
It takes 26 votes to permanently defeat a bill.
With two senators absent, the vote against the school-year bill was 25-23.
That means the bill's author can call for a re-vote any time between now and February 23rd, the deadline for the senate to pass its bills.
