Last updated on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

(UNDATED) - Hospitals in Southern California and 34 other states are dealing with recent cases of bacteria called CRKP, or Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella Pneumoniae.

Shawn Richards, a Respiratory Epidemiologist with the Indiana State Department of Health says CRKP isn't a reportable disease in Indiana and therefore there aren't any indications or investigations into CRKP cases in the state.

She says CRKP is a bacterial disease that can cause different types of infections.
