(UNDATED) - Indiana is joining 7 other Midwestern states in an earthquake drill next month.
The Great Central U.S. Shake Out will take place April 19th to help Hoosiers know what to do in the event of an earthquake.
Emily Norcross with the Department of Homeland Security says we don't think of being prepared for earthquakes like we think about tornadoes in Indiana, but the possibility is there with 2 fault lines running through the state.
Norcross says the more people are prepared for an earthquake the less likely they are to panic when one occurs.
Indiana is a member of the Central United States Earthquake Consortium, the mastermind behind the awareness campaign.
On April 19th at 10:15AM businesses, schools, and residents are encouraged to practice the three safety actions to take during an earth quake: drop, cover, and hold-on.
