(STATEHOUSE) - Republicans are looking at reviving a law to make future political walkouts illegal.
In 1867, the General Assembly made it a misdemeanor to deliberately deny a quorum, in the wake of attempts to derail the constitutional amendment assuring citizenship to anyone born in the U.S., including freed slaves.
The law was repealed in 1976, but Senate President Pro Tem David Long and House Speaker Brian Bosma are looking at reviving it.
