(UNDATED) - Indiana Senator Richard Lugar is voicing his opposition for the mission underway in Libya.
The ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee says the operation has not been clearly defined.
The Republican also argues the U.S. cannot afford another war.
He says U.S. efforts have already cost more than a billion dollars.
His comments are more critical of the action than other Republicans, including Senator John McCain of Arizona and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who have raised concerns but remain supportive of U.S. involvement.
