(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - The United States Postal Service will consider consolidating the Terre Haute Processing Center with Indianapolis.
Spokeswoman Kim Yates says the study is a part of an on-going effort to streamline activity and reduce costs in the wake of less stamped mail.
Yates says the same thing happened to the Bloomington facility past year.
The Terre Haute processing center handles 90,000 pieces of stamped mail per day with 10 employees.
Yates says the study is in the beginning stages and should be complete sometime in May.
She says Terre Haute residents will be informed of the outcome regardless of the recommendation.
If the study committee agrees the processing center should consolidate with Indianapolis.
A public hearing will be held, allowing residents to voice their own opinion.
