(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Construction is underway at Camp Belzer months after the popular boy scout facility’s activity center was heavily damaged by fire.
A plank signing ceremony was held Wednesday to mark the rebuilding effort.
The site, located adjacent to Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park on the northeast side of Indianapolis, serves as the Flagship Cub Scout Day Camp during the summer.
The rebuilding effort is expected to be complete by the end of 2011.
It will be built upon the foundation of the original building and will look very similar to the previous space.
Nearly 100,000 scouts, volunteers and other community members have used the activity center since it opened in 2003. 3,000 kids are registered to attend camp this summer.
