(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Officials at the Indiana State Fairgrounds are looking into renovations at Pepsi Coliseum.
Andy Klotz with the state fair says plans for the renovations are still in the preliminary stages.
Klotz says they are still studying the possibility of finding the funding to make a renovation possible.
He says the creation of the State Fair Foundation, which was recently signed into law, is a key ingredient because they can apply for grant money.
Some of the issues needing to be addressed include heating and cooling problems as well as the backstage separation of an audience and athletes or other performers at the coliseum.
Klotz says a renovated coliseum would not be seen as a competitor to larger venues such as Conseco Fieldhouse, but rather a modernization of an older building.
He says the goal is to cater to the current show producers and the people that already come for the fair, hockey games and other events.
Klotz says the results of the studies should come back by the summer and then there will be more information for the public as to where the project will go.
