(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - An Indiana lawmaker, who supports giving prosecutors and judges more options when charging teens accused of sexting, is responding to the recent arrest of a Boone County teen for the practice.
State Senator Jim Merritt says Indiana has no laws that specifically address sending sexually explicit text messages.
He says the Boone County case illustrates the need to legally define what actually constitutes a crime.
He backs a bill approved by the house that would provide a defense to child pornography charges under certain circumstances.
