Plan To Save Historic Wigwam Comes To Standstill

Last updated on Thursday, April 14, 2011

(ANDERSON, IN) - Another plan to save the historic Anderson wigwam has come to a standstill.

Brown County resident Michael Mullen sent a proposal to Anderson Community School Corporation Board Members outlining his plan to save the basketball gym.

Mullen said he intended to form an all-native American basketball team that would use the wigwam as its home arena.

However, after touring the wigwam on Tuesday, Mullen decided that the gym was too big and dropped his plans for taking over the facility.

The wigwam will be closed this summer due to a budget-cutting measure.
