(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A crowd gathered outside the Criminal Justice Center in Fountain Square Wednesday to show support for five undocumented immigrants following their release from jail.
The initial court hearing was continued to June 14th. The five were arrested Monday for misdemeanor trespassing after entering Governor Mitch Daniels' Office and refusing to leave during a protest of two immigration-related bills.
Daniels signed both into law on Tuesday.
The group of supporters outside the courtroom included the Rev. Stephen Carlsen of Christ Church Cathedral.
He says Omar and Erick have been active members of the congregation for more than 10 years, singing in the church choir and participating in youth group activities.
All the defendants were held in the Marion County Jail while immigration and customs enforcement reviewed their status.
Ice has removed its hold on them and will not pursue deportation.
