(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Three FSSA employees face theft and other charges after an over year long investigation.
Indianapolis residents Robert Edwards, Timberly Snyder and Adina Lopez are accused of stealing over $191,000 from December 2008 to April 2010.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett says the three allegedly made fake OTC cards used in the Electronics Benefits Transfer and Temporary Assistance For Needy Families programs, assigned them to actual beneficiaries' names and used them to draw money from ATM's, purchase goods at retail stores or sell them for money.
Snyder and Edwards have not been employed by FSSA for several months, but as of Tuesday morning, Lopez was still an employee, FSSA General Counsel Mike Carter could not say why.
Neither could he say if the over 100 beneficiaries' whose names were used, were, or will, be notified by the FSSA.
Carter did say the agency feels internal policies helped uncover the scam.
All three have pleaded not guilty.
They face maximum 10 year prison sentences and $250,000 fines.
