(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Hundreds of Hoosiers gathered at Crown Hill in Indianapolis for a ceremony to remember Memorial Day.
It was Crown Hill's 143rd annual observance of the day America honors those who fought and died for freedom.
Indiana Congressman Mike Pence, who served as keynote speaker, was among those who endured sweltering heat to honor war heroes and their families.
Pence also laid a wreath in remembrance and paid tribute to his own father who was also a veteran.
Some of those in attendance say America may take Memorial Day for granted, but they always take time to honor the day by teaching the lessons of war and freedom to their children.
