(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue University’s Center for Career Opportunities says the job outlook for this year’s college graduates is the best in three years.
The center says on-campus interviews from private employers is up by 25% and the number of new employers seeking young talent is also up by 25%.
However, the job hunt for some 1.7 million new graduates in 20-11 will be fiercely competitive.
Center Director Susan Hychka says employers seem to be cautiously optimistic in hiring new graduates. In some cases, she says employers have been holding positions vacant, but can't wait any longer.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows a surge in hiring young talent nationwide.
Figures for this past February and March show private sector hiring up by 470,000 new jobs, compared to the same time in 20-10.
It's reportedly the largest two-month gain since 2006.
