(MUNCIE, IN) - More than 1,000 people honor the life and service of a fallen Muncie firefighter.
Nearly all of the Horizon Convention Center's 1,500 chairs were full during Tuesday's funeral service for 40-year-old Scott Davis, who died last week while battling a blaze that destroyed a church.
Firefighters from communities throughout the state, including Indianapolis, Mishawaka and Yorktown, attended the ceremony.
Davis was remembered by his "comrades" as a great firefighter, but his wife decided to reflect upon his character as a husband and father of three.
Some of the firefighters and other well-wishers waited for more than an hour to talk to Davis' wife and pass by his flag-draped casket, next to a stand with his charred fire helmet.
Investigators haven't yet announced what caused Wednesday's fire at the Tabernacle of Praise Church.
Davis was killed when the roof of the church collapsed.
