(BROWNSBURG, IN) - The Brownsburg School Board fired orchestra teacher Christian Starnes Monday.
Starnes was suspended last month for verbally threatening a student.
School Board President Kim Armstrong says the decision was made to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
Armstrong says during a hearing Friday, Starnes' Attorney provided the school board with 300 pages of affidavits from supporters of Starnes testifying to his character.
Starnes admitted to threatening the student and says he regrets his actions.
Starnes left the building to applause from parents and students.
One Brownsburg parent says she will be taking her kids out of Brownsburg Schools.
