(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Nuclear scientists recently announced they have found a way to “trap” antimatter atoms for more than 15 minutes.
Previously, antimatter disappeared after a fraction of a second.
Brian Murphy with the Holcomb Observatory at Butler University, says the development will give scientists more time to study the atoms properly, in the hope of understanding what happened during the first moments of the universe.
The team improved the efficiency of the antimatter trap by cooling Antihydrogen atoms down to less than 0.5 degrees above absolute zero.
