(EVANSVILLE, IN) - Indiana Congressman Joe Donnelly visited Berry Plastics Corporation in Evansville Thursday to meet employees and discuss his ideas to strengthen manufacturing in Indiana.
The Democrat says visiting plants across the state allows him to better understand the challenges they face.
Donnelly touts his legislation, the America Works Act, as a way to fuel job creation in places like Evansville.
He says the bill tightens up where federal work training funds are directed... only going to communities that are creating new jobs.
During Donnelly's tour of Berry Plastics, he learned about their work manufacturing plastic packaging products, plastic film products, specialty adhesives and coated products.
He says the plant should serve as a model for other Indiana Manufacturers because of its advanced technology and employee training techniques.
