(FORT WAYNE, IN) - The high temperatures are causing cities and towns to offer ways to keep residents cool.
Ft. Wayne Director of Public Information Frank Suarez says the city has opened two cooling centers that will remain open till at least 9:00PM every day this week.
He says local businesses have donated refreshments for those needing to cool off.
Indianapolis city officials made the same move Tuesday in expectation of heat indices in excess of 105 degrees.
The Salvation Army has also opened cooling centers in Indianapolis and Richmond.
