(FISHERS, IN) - INDOT is planning a $30 million makeover for the I-69/State Road 37 corridor.
Spokesman Will Wingfield says they're tackling the issue of booming growth and traffic in the area.
Right now, I-69 bottlenecks at the 116th Street split at Fishers and where traffic veers off onto State Road 37 bound northward for Noblesville.
Wingfield says INDOT has a multi-pronged plan that includes building two new bridges that carry State Road 37 over I-69, new ramp configurations, and a new southbound lane on I-69 among other projects.
Wingfield says bids will go out on the project by next spring.
Development began last September.
The second part of the project will begin in 2013.
Merchants just north of the split say they're prepared for the project, but know it'll take some time to complete.
Ultimately, they hope the project will make it easier for commuters to access their businesses.
