(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Court of Appeals ruled Thursday a department store was not justified in firing an employee accused of stealing hot dogs after a company picnic.
The case involved Nolan Koewler appealing the denial of unemployment benefits after being fired from Dillard's in Evansville in July 2010.
A store manager accused Koewler of stealing two hot dogs that were meant to be saved for a Labor Day picnic.
In a unanimous ruling, the three-judge panel found there was no evidence Koewler heard the instructions about saving the food.
