(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - President Obama held the first Twitter Town Hall on Wednesday and one university professor says it’s not the first time a president has utilized a certain technology to interact with the people.
Ted Frantz, Professor of Political Science and History at the University of Indianapolis says two key presidents are known for using technology to communicate to their generation.
Frantz says using these technologies gives the people the feeling of a more direct relationship with the president.
He says President Obama using Twitter is different because you don't hear his voice or see his face but the interaction is still there.
He says the irony is that as we move into the 21st century, the technologies move things toward less of a face-to-face confrontation but that's normal since a lot of people say they prefer texting their friends instead of talking face-to-face.
