(FORT WAYNE, IN) - Indiana State Department of Tourism officials say the state has a lot to offer in terms of vacation ideas and quick getaways.
Spokeswoman Amy Vaughn says there is a lot to do in Fort Wayne that tends to be forgotten or overlooked.
Fort Wayne is a great family vacation spot with the Children's Zoo and Science Central Interactive Center.
The state's second largest city also has several museum, the Botanical Conservatory and unique retail centers.
Vaughn says another hot pot this year is Amish Country in northern Indiana.
Tourism officials in that area have created the "quilt garden trail" where large flower gardens are planted to look like quilts.
Vaughn says mid-July is the best time to see the flowers and colors in bloom.
