(INDIANAPOLIS) - Train and Maroon 5 take the stage tonight for what now is a benefit concert for the victims of Saturday’s stage collapse at the State Fair.
Train and Maroon 5 are still performing at Conseco Fieldhouse. Fair Spokesman Andy Klotz says White River State Park and Verizon Wireless Music Center offered their facilities too -- he says it was the bands who decided whether to go on.
A spokeswoman for Lady Antebellum, which canceled Friday's scheduled show, says the country group felt it would be inappropriate to take the stage so soon after Saturday's tragedy.
Janet Jackson issued a statement that fair officials had canceled all the concerts scheduled for the grandstand. Her publicist maintains it was the fair's decision.
Jackson is a Gary native. Her concert would have been her first in her home state in 10 years.
Sugarland To Dedicate Song To State Fair Victims
For the first time since the tragedy at the State Fair, Sugarland will take the stage tonight.
Their performance in Albuquerque will include a message to everyone in Indiana and a song dedicated to the victims. They will take the stage at 10:45 p.m.
The message and dedication will last less than 10 minutes.
