(INDIANAPOLIS) - Six Indianapolis public schools will learn their fate later this month.
Last night, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett met with members of the IPS board. Board President Dr. Mary Bush says Bennett was "unmoved" by their pleas to re-evaluate several of the schools facing a potential take-over.
The school district is arguing that four of the six schools are "community schools" with blended grades and have made progress. The State Board of Education is expected to make a decision on those schools at the end of August.
Seven schools statewide are on the probation list and facing state intervention - six in Indianapolis and one in Gary.
