(NOBLESVILLE) - A Hamilton County judge has granted a second delay in the criminal trial of Secretary of State Charlie White.
The trial is scheduled to begin now on January 30th.
White is accused of voter fraud and theft. White's attorney, former Marion County prosecutor Carl Brizzi, confirmed the new date this morning after a telephone conference with the judge and prosecutors.
Brizzi's co-counsel, Dennis Zahn, withdrew from the cast last week. Brizzi says he thinks the judge wanted to make sure his counsel had adequate time to get up to speed on the facts.
Brizzi says he is confident that his client will be exonerated because the motive behind the charges is political. White could be forced out of office if convicted on any of seven felony charges.
